Treats Good Enough for Cats and Dogs #ChewyInfluencer

Do you feed your cats treats?  Are you searching for treats that are 100% pure white chicken meat? Are you searching for treats that work with a high protein, grain-free, or limited ingredient diet? If you're answering yes to these questions, then we have the purrfect treat for you!
Brulee and Truffle with Cat Man Do Life Essential Treats bag
Brulee and Truffle waiting for their Cat-Man-Doo™ Life Essential Treats

If we haven't said it enough, we LOVE treats.  Mom Paula knows she needs to be careful with the type of treats we eat to help us maintain our svelte feline figures.  She also tries to find treats without a lot of additives in order to keep us healthy.  We received a bag of the Cat-Man-Doo™ Life Essentials freeze-dried chicken treats from Chewy.com as part of the Chewy Influencer program this month.

The Cat-Man-Doo Life Essentials treats are human-grade, USDA approved white chicken breast meat that is carefully sliced into strips and then freeze-dried without the use of chemicals, additives, or preservatives.  Each average size piece has fewer than 10 calories.  The treats are made with one single ingredient (chicken) and are grain-free.  These high-protein treats are delicious and can be fed to both cats and dogs.  Everyone knows how finicky Brulee is, but she will "fight" Truffle to get a piece of these tasty treats.
Truffle and key benefits of Cat-Man-Doo Life Essential Treats
Truffle shares the key benefits of Cat-Man-Doo Life Essential Treats

The treats can be fed whole, broken into small pieces, or crumbled over food as an appetite enhancer. Mom Paula has used the crumbs in the bag to sprinkle over wet food to entice Brulee to eat the food because she's so finicky.  You can also rehydrate the treats with water for a soft and delicious snack. Some of the pieces are a little larger than others, but Mom Paula tends to break them into smaller treats so we think we are eating more than one piece and to keep Truffle from choking because she will swallow a treat whole sometimes. It's always important to have fresh water available for your cats (or dogs) when feeding freeze-dried treats.

As  you can see from the video above, the girls love these treats.  The Life Essential treats are available in two flavors:  chicken and wild Alaskan salmon.  We haven't tried the salmon yet, but would be willing to give it a try.  The treats are available in 2-oz and 5-oz bags from Chewy.com and the price ranges from $7.99-$16.32, depending on the flavor and size.

We definitely give the Cat-Man-Doo Life Essential treats and Chewy.com 4 paws up!

Blogging is Hard Work

Did you ever stop to think all the time that goes into writing a post for a blog?  There are some days there is only a  photo posted and other days there are product reviews and stories.  Even the posting of a "simple" photo requires a few hours.
Brulee sleeping on the job

First, there is the chore of capturing your cat (or dog) in a photograph that can actually be used.  We stay indoors all the time and our house has very little natural light, so Mom Paula is constantly trying to get a clear photo without the yellow tones and ghostly eyes.  There's also the fact that we are usually moving in all of the photos.

The next step is choosing that one photo from hundreds that will tell the story you're trying to convey. Then we start editing with various software programs to crop, straighten, and edit the photo.  This could take a few hours if you have a photo with clutter in the background or if you need to add logos or quotes.

Deciding a title for your post usually comes after the blog is written for us.  Mom Paula tends to look at the photo and let it tell her a story.  Our narrative reflects that story and our title summarizes the story.

There is a lot more work for a sponsored post, a memory post, or a research post.  We like to mix it up a little, but always share photos of Truffle and Brulee and hope you can visit our blog each day and leave with a smile on your face.

Have a great weekend!

Pee ess - We forgot to mention we do this 365 days a year.  We've never missed a day since our blog began 5.5 years ago.

Taxes or Cats?

Brulee and Truffle helping or hindering?

Since Mom Paula has a consulting business on top of her regular job, she spends hours and days completing her tax returns.  Somehow, Truffle and Brulee always know when she's doing the taxes and they get right in the middle of things.  Would you be able to complete your tax returns if these two lovely floofy kitties sat in front of your computer or would you give it up and give all of your attention to the cats?

All we know is Mom Paula is thankful for both a tax refund and for us!

Sleeping in Style - TrustyPup Giveaway

Did you know cats sleep from 16-20 hours a day?  Mom Paula is happy if she can get 6 hours of sleep.  Dogs tend to sleep 12-14 hours per day.  We cats tend to sleep anywhere, but we've noticed our dog friends generally sleep on beds, the floor, or furniture (we know there are other places, but we base this on our woofie cousins).  Mom Paula has tried many cat beds with us and we tend to ignore them.  However, our woofie cousin, Bandit, loves to sleep in dog beds.  He will be 9 years old next month and is beginning to get a little arthritis, so he needs a comfortable bed.
Truffle says Bandit deserves this comfortable bed

Disclosure- received TrustyPup bed from Worldwise for review

We've reviewed other products from Worldwise in the past and thought we'd let our woofie cousin, Bandit, review the TrustyPup Memory Dreamer™ dog bed.
Bandit in the TrustyPup Memory Dreamer™ Dog Bed

The TrustyPup Memory Dreamer™ dog bed is plush and will hug your dog's body and create the ultimate sleeping place.  The bed is machine washable and is a large size (36 inches x 26 inches x 9 inches).  The bed is available in two colors: slate or plum. The bed is made of memory foam cushion (our humans know how good this feels) which helps relieve painful joints and achy muscles.  The bed is substantial bolster filled  with high-loft fiber for comfort.

We wanted to show Bandit experiencing the Memory Dreamer dog bed for the first time, so Mom Paula walked into the house with her camera and announced the bed to Bandit.  You can see how happy he was to receive his new bed with the video below.  The video is raw footage, so you can see both Bandit's and the humans' reactions.

Grandma Faye told Bandit to get in his bed and stay for our photo shoot and video.  We didn't know if he'd really like it or not once we left.  Only time would tell... Lately, Bandit hasn't been sleeping through the night.  He's waking up several times crying and barking and Grandma Faye can't figure out what's wrong.  The night Bandit received the TrustyPup Memory Dreamer Dog Bed, he slept through the entire night.  When Grandma Faye came in the den the next morning, he was snoozing in his new bed.  Bandit continues to sleep through the night in his TrustyPup Memory Dreamer bed.

Treats, Please

Mom Paula was walking up the hall the other day and looked towards the foot stool and saw Truffle and Brulee sitting side-by-side (which is unusual) and staring at her.  She finally figured out that we wanted some treats.  Would you give us treats if we looked at you this way?

We're very thankful Mom Paula finally finished her tax return this week and we're getting a refund. We hope the refund gets back in a hurry to help with the trip to Global Pet Expo and Mom Paula's upcoming eye surgery.  Mom Paula is thankful she doesn't need to try to look through two fur balls to try to see the computer screen.

Cool Cat Lady

Recently, Mom Paula was at a meeting with other pet bloggers and she went out to dinner with some new friends who happened to be dog bloggers.  They were having a lot of fun at dinner and one of the dog bloggers looked at Mom Paula and said, You're not a "crazy cat lady, you're a cool cat lady." This was an interesting and refreshing perspective on the stereotypical view of females who are owned by cats.  Mom Paula has been told many times by people that she meets that she isn't the stereotypical cat lady.  What is a Cat Lady?
Truffle asks if you are a Cat Lady
Truffle thinks everyone should be a Cat Lady

Post sponsored by PawCulture™ and BlogPaws®

Mom Paula was inspired to write about being a Cat Lady when she read an article on PawCulture™ about Reinventing the Cat Lady.  PawCulture is a new website with articles focused on pet tips, DIY projects, pet lifestyle, pet recipes, and rescue stories.  They even have a Cat Clubhouse, which is devoted to exclusive cat content and feline features.  PawCulture's mission is to celebrate the unbreakable bond between pets and their humans and they do this by informing, inspiring, and entertaining devoted pet parents with helpful advice, useful tips, and superior storytelling.

A Cat Lady can be glamorous - Mom Paula and Truffle

Cat Ladies are Stylish

One of the stereotypes of a Cat Lady is the old lady in a bathrobe with disheveled hair.  Mom Paula may be old (she turns 61 this month), but she never leaves the house without makeup, her hair brushed, and stylish clothes.  Mom Paula's wardrobe consists of clothes with a lot of bling (even her sweats and jeans), styled with comfort to fit the occasion. She always has a pet hair removal roller nearby to remove as much of our beautiful fur as possible from her clothes.  We tend to sneak on a few extra cat furs as she is leaving, so there is also a roller in her car and in the office.  Mom Paula does have a comfortable bath robe she wears and she's been known to wear sweats and go without makeup when she's staying home for the day, which isn't often.

Brulee, pictured with dissertation, says Cat Ladies are smart!
Mom Paula has a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education

Cat Ladies are Intelligent

Another stereotype of Cat Ladies is that they can be unhinged and loony. Mom Paula earned a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Clemson University when she went through her divorce 20 years ago.  She taught mathematics in the middle school environment for 17+ years and was a college professor teaching mathematics and mathematics education for 10+ years.  She's worked in the Academic Affairs Division of the Commission on Higher Education for the past 11+ years and will retire March 31.  She says not only has she had to overcome the stereotype of a Cat Lady, but that of a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, Southern female.  Mom Paula is the kindest and friendliest person you'll meet, but she is passionate, assertive, and independent.  When Mom Paula was a college professor, one of her students came to her office one day to ask her a question.  The conversation went something like this:

Student:  Can I ask you a question?
Mom Paula:  You may ask but I may not answer.
Student:  You have a cat, right?
Mom Paula:  Yes
Student:  How can  you have a cat?  You're such a control freak and cats are so independent. (Interesting note:  this student raised Persians)
Mom Paula:  She keeps me honest.

Cat Ladies are Social

Another stereotype of Cat Ladies is that they are lonely and introverted humans with no one to keep them company except their cats.  Don't get us wrong, Mom Paula loves being with us, but she has an active social life.  She attends all of the South Carolina Gamecocks football, men's basketball, women's basketball, and baseball games.  Mom Paula attends conferences and meetings (BlogPaws, BarkWorld, Cat Writer's Association, and Global Pet Expo) and loves to meet people.  Mom Paula has been known to start up a conversation with strangers in the checkout line or at the gas pump. Mom Paula is definitely an extrovert and can tend to "wear out" people who are with her.  One of her special cat blogging friends told her recently, "I love hanging out with you, but I'm exhausted after being with you all day."  Many of our cat blogging humans are shy, but they are great people who have a lot to offer to the world.

Cat Ladies Love Dogs, Too!

Another stereotype of the Cat Lady is that they do not like dogs.  Mom Paula grew up with dogs the first 20 years of her life.  She had a Collie, a Cocker Spaniel, and a Pekingese.  When she was married, she wanted a pet, but her husband (now an ex) was afraid of dogs.  Mom Paula had never been really comfortable around cats because her parents didn't really like them, but she wanted a pet, so she told her spouse that she wanted a cat, but it would stay inside.  This was the first time she'd ever had a pet to live indoors.  Mom Paula still loves dogs and lives vicariously through her mother's dog, Bandit, and her sister's dogs.  She was excited to meet many of our dog friends and their dogs at BlogPaws last year.  We really feel it's okay to prefer one species over another, but we should always be accepting of animals who are different from us.  They are all special in their own way and are great companions for their humans.  Mom Paula said if she lived in a different location and wasn't working that she'd consider bringing another dog into her life.  We aren't so sure we'd be happy with that arrangement. MOL!

Cat Ladies Speak Meow

One stereotype of Cat Ladies is that they love cats and this is definitely true.  Mom Paula has been owned by a cat for the last 40 years.  She gets very frustrated when someone will say, "It's just a cat." When Sweet Praline was diagnosed with cancer and didn't have long to live, Mom Paula was frequently depressed.  When talking to one of her colleagues at work, he made the comment that she was just a cat.  Mom Paula set him straight by saying she'd never say something about his children to him and she'd appreciate the same respect.  We are her girls and no one can tell her any differently. There's something special about coming home to those soft and furry creatures who can calm the most stressed human with a purr.  Cat Ladies don't often get the chance to meet other cat people because most cats live in the home and do not travel like our dog friends.  Mom Paula is thankful she's been able to meet some of our cat friends and their humans at pet blogging events, such as BlogPaws.  Mom Paula hopes to reach out to other humans about the unique bond between cats and their humans once she retires.  She'd like to participate at a local shelter and other social events where she can make a difference.

Mom Paula is a Cat Lady and proud of it!

We hope you were inspired by our post today.  Celebrate the unbreakable bond between pets and their people by visiting the PawCulture website for information, inspiration, entertainment, helpful tips, and advice about loving your pet.  You can also visit PawCulture on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Happy Kitten Valentine Gift Set - Giveaway

Does your cat deserve a little something special that is specifically designed for her wants and needs?
Brulee and Truffle are impressed with the items available in the Happy Kitten Valentine Gift Set

Disclosure - free product received from Cat Claws for review

The Happy Kitten Valentine Gift Set was sent to us from Cat Claws to review.  This gift set would make a wonderful Valentine's Day gift for that special cat in your life.

The Happy Kitten Valentine Gift Set includes an organic cat grass kit, a Scratch 'n Shape Cozxy Curl corrugated cat scratcher,  a feather teaser wand, a bag of organic catnip, and a Valentine-themed toy. The size of the scratcher and wand toy are definitely more suited for kittens or smaller cats, but there are other scratchers and kits available for adult or larger cats.  The Happy Kitten Valentine Gift Set is currently on sale for $20.90.

Truffle immediately claimed the heart-shaped toy and Brulee was more interested in the feather. Brulee was intrigued by the heart-shaped toy and tried to approach Truffle playing with it and after a tap from Truffle, Brulee went for the feather wand.

Cat Claws currently has a wide variety of heart-themed toys and products to choose from for your cat for Valentine’s Day.  We admit that we checked out other items on the website and will definitely order some things in the future.

Hanging Out with Mom Paula

Happiness is hanging out with Mom Paula in the living room.  We have about 6 more weeks before she is retired and we hope to have a lot more time with her.  Knowing her though, she'll find something else to do!  She has lots of plans and goals, but our number one goal is to keep her for ourselves.  Do you think it will work?

We Love Chicken

Everyone knows we love our treats, especially freeze-dried chicken treats!
Truffle wishes she didn't have the Persian face so she could get into the Weruva treat cannister

Disclosure - received treats from Chewy.com free for review

We've reviewed Weruva cat food and litter in the past and are definitely fans!  Imagine our surprise when we realized Weruva had freeze-dried chicken treats!  We received a can of the Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken Freeze-Dried Dog & Cat Treats from Chewy.com as part of the Chewy Influencer Program.  These treats have one ingredient:  boneless, white chicken breast!  We've eaten other brands of freeze-dried chicken and it's always been a favorite of ours.  Mom Paula couldn't even get the top off of the cannister before Truffle was trying to press her Persian face into it to get the treats.
Brulee waiting for her Weruva Paw Lickin' Chicken treat

Since these treats only contain chicken, they are suitable for both cats and dogs.  The treats are a protein-rich single ingredient that would be appropriate for cats and dogs on limited diets.  There are no grains or gluten in the treats.  The treats come in a container for easy storage and to keep mischievous kitties out of them.  These treats were a hit with Truffle and Brulee.  As you can see in the video below, the girls couldn't get enough of them.  Truffle kept rubbing back and forth on the treat can and would have eaten the entire container if it were left unattended for long.  Mom Paula likes the fact that the treats are small in size which is great for greedy kitties like Truffle and Brulee. It's important to keep fresh and clean drinking water available when feeding freeze-dried treats to cats.  The Weruva freeze dried treats are also available in Blue Water Whitefish for those kitties (and dogs) who prefer fish.

The Weruva freeze-dried treats are available at Chewy.com at the low price of $8.99.  If you purchase other items (food, litter, and toys) that total $49+, you can receive free 2-day shipping.  We are very impressed with the products available, the prices, the shipping, and the customer service at Chewy.com.
